Our sustainability work

We take a humble approach to sustainability, recognising that we are at the beginning of a journey that will go beyond environmental goals and caring for each other. We simply have to find new ways of relating to the environment, what is good business and how we take care of each other. At the same time, we are well aware that it is important and that our contribution matters a lot to the whole.

For a better environment

The environmental impact of the construction and property sector accounts for a significant proportion of the total environmental impact on society. Overall, the sector accounts for between 10 and 30 per cent of the environmental footprint in Sweden from Swedish production in the areas monitored by the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's environmental indicators.

At Jörnträhus, we work actively to reduce our impact by, among other things:

  • Build with environmentally friendly and locally sourced timber that sequesters carbon throughout the life of the product.
  • Minimise waste in production.
  • Improve the proportion of sorted waste.
  • Recycle residual products.
  • Buying wood products locally.
  • Buying inputs from suppliers who share our environmental vision.
  • Making transport more efficient with well-loaded vehicles.
  • Increase the share of aggregated material from multiple suppliers to increase transport efficiency.
  • Systematise local environmental work and improve the documentation of the environmental impact of our products.

For sound business

  • Increase the share of end-to-end deals that create cost-effective solutions for the end customer.
  • Streamline purchasing to offer functional luxury at a smart price.
  • Work systematically on continuous improvement.
  • Systematise quality monitoring.

For a more caring society

  • Doing good for Jörn by creating local jobs and being a good employer.
  • Sponsoring local associations and supporting local initiatives.
  • 0 vision for workplace accidents through systematic work environment management.
