Contractor and Jörnträhus add even more housing in Kåge

Contractor has been given the go-ahead for another large housing project in Kåge, which is called Birkarlen and can provide about 200 apartments, but in the first stage it is a building permit for 80 apartments. The company has already been commissioned to build the Kvarnbacken block for Skebo with around 70 rental apartments with the Loftgången concept house from Jörnträhus.

The Birkarlen neighbourhood is a collaborative project with Contractor Holding as the client, Contractor bygg Skellefteå who is responsible for the construction, as well as Contractor Mark who does all the groundwork and we at Jörnträhus who have developed this type of house and prefabricate the house kits in our factories in Jörn.

- Once again, the choice fell on our Loftgången concept house, developed by our skilled designers. The house type has proved to be interesting for this type of project as it is possible to get a good mix of different sizes of apartments, in this case 1s, 2s and 3s are combined in the houses. It feels good that we can contribute to improving the housing market in the expansive Skellefteå area, says Jörnträhus CEO, Mikael Lindberg.

- It's a really exciting project to be able to carry out, and it's great that the entire Contractor line is involved. We are working on finding a property owner who will buy the properties from us, until then it ties up quite a lot of money but we look favourably on a solution. Many people have been interested in the land that was actually allocated to Skidstahus but has not been realised. So when we were able to act quickly and submit building permit documents even before the holidays, we were awarded the land by the municipality," says Contactor's project manager Mats Håkansson.

Work is now starting on planning permission for the next phase, which will see the project grow to around 200 apartments in a multi-stage rocket.
